A Glowing NYT Review for “Sidekicked”
2013-08-26
In his New York Times review of Sidekicked, Larry Tye starts out by admitting he “wanted to hate this book.” Spoiler alert: He loved it. Excerpt below:
“‘I know Superman, Superman is a friend of mine,’ I was tempted to write to the author, John David Anderson, ‘and Mr. Anderson, Captain Marvelous is no Superman!’
I was, of course, wrong, as authorities generally are. After just two chapters, I realized this was as riveting a rendition of superdom as even Superman’s creator, Jerry Siegel, could have pulled off.”
