Nim's Island — About Wendy Orr
Wendy Orr was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, but she spent her life living and traveling all over the world. The constants wherever she lived were "lots of stories, books and pets." Although she began writing at seven and always wanted to be a writer, she only began writing seriously in 1986, publishing her first book that same year. She has been writing ever since, drawing some of her ideas from her own varied experiences and some from pure imagination. In her own words, "I write because it's the best way I know of to explore ideas and find out what life's about."
Orr and her husband live in Australia where they are trying to restore their land to its natural state as a home for wildlife.
