NEW READING RECORD SET IN WALDEN MEDIA’S “BREAK A WORLD READING RECORD WITH CHARLOTTE’S WEB”

BOSTON, MA (August 20, 2007)—Walden Media announced today that official confirmation has been received that it has set the Guinness World Record™ for "Most People Reading Aloud Simultaneously in Multiple Locations." The record setting achievement occurred when 223,363 people, participating from all 50 states and in 22 countries, simultaneously read a passage from E.B. White’s beloved classic children’s book Charlotte’s Web last December 13, 2006 at 12 noon (EST).

“We are thrilled to receive the official confirmation from Guinness World Record,” said Micheal Flaherty, President of Walden Media. “Our movies seek to remind kids about the great stories that are found in literature. This record attempt was another way to demonstrate to young readers not only the joy that comes from reading but also how universal reading is – this record brought together young readers from every state and from many other countries in a shared educational experience.”

Charlotte’s Web is one of many film adaptations from Walden Media.
