Worm Eating Contest to Benefit Charity

Popcorn, soda, and worms? Malco Theatres will be hosting a celebrity worm eating contest at the Stage Cinema to celebrate the opening of New Line Cinema's film "How to Eat Fried Worms."
The event will benefit the Memphis Literacy Foundation. It's scheduled for Saturday, August 26, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Stage Cinema theatre lobby.
Local celebrities will be "paid" by moviegoers to chow down on a variety of chocolate covered, chipotle and BBQ flavored worms.
In addition, Malco Theatres, Davis-Kidd Booksellers and the Memphis Grizzlies are giving away copies of the book "How to Eat Fried Worms" beginning Friday, August 25 to the first 100 kids (age 11 and under with regular paid child admission) attending the Paradiso, Majestic, Cordova Towne Cinema, Collierville Towne Cinema or Desoto Cinema locations.
