Austin Fried Worms Casting Call Draws Huge Numbers
July 10, 2005AUSTIN - An overwhelming number of eager, aspiring actors flocked to the July 9th open casting call for Walden Media's and New Line Cinema's upcoming film, How to Eat Fried Worms. Producers, focusing their search on kids aged three to fifteen but accepting all ages, definitely weren't disappointed to greet ten times their expected number of applicants. As Victoria Acosta, Extras Casting Director, commented: "I did not expect this many people, but we love it. It's great. There's a lot of enthusiasm out there."
Over 2000 people waited for a chance to be an extra in the film based on Thomas Rockwell's young adult classic. Determination was clearly not an issue as hopefuls came from as far away as San Antonio and Houston. Many were even willing to wait as long as two and a half hours for a chance to grace the silver screen.
Because of the overwhelming response, producers will continue to accept applications online for the next several weeks. Details can be found at the following web site: www.geocities.com/eatawormextras
How to Eat Fried Worms will be filming in Austin through September and will be released in theaters in 2006.
