Joseph Bruchac

Author Joseph Bruchac is a story teller in the grand tradition. Drawing from his Native American heritage, he has authored more than 70 books for adults and children. His poems, articles and stories have appeared in over 500 publications.

He has performed across the United States and Europe as a professional teller of traditional tales of the Adirondacks and the Native People of the Northeast Woodlands. Mr. Bruchac has been a storyteller-in-residence for Native American organizations and schools, including the Institute of Alaska Native Arts and the Onondaga Nation School. In addition to discussing Native culture in his books, he conducts storytelling programs at dozens of elementary and secondary schools each year as a visiting author.

Joseph Bruchac brings his background, wisdom and skill to the amazing, often heartrending chronicle of Jim Thorpe and the Carlisle Indians.
