On April 25th and 26th, Walden participated in the 14th annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Over the past several years, the Festival has become a must-attend LA Event. Thousands flock to the UCLA campus where the event is held to meet their favorite celebrity authors, get their favorite books signed, listen to panel discussions and to have fun!
We felt honored to participate in the Festival’s opening panel. Newbery Honor Award winning author, Ingrid Law (SAVVY) and Walden’s own Chip Flaherty discussed the importance of children’s literature and publishing to an attentive crowd.

After the panel, we kicked off events at the Walden booth. Ingrid Law signed copies of “Savvy” for adoring fans. Children flocked to our booth for our interactive activities. We and our friends at SchoolTube.com interviewed hundreds of children about their favorite books, and why they liked to read. The kids loved getting in front of the camera to speak their minds, and we were thrilled to find so many excited and engaged young readers! SchoolTube edited and posted all of the interviews so the kids could see themselves ‘live’ online and we think they’re great too. Check out the videos – they are truly fun and inspiring.

We had a great time this year at the Festival and really hope we’ll have the opportunity to participate next year.
