What’s more exciting than breaking a world record? How about picking the next book you and your preschooler will read together?
Well… maybe not quite as exciting.
But Jumpstart, the fantastic non-profit literacy organization behind the annual “Read for the Record” event is offering just that.
Last October, over two million preschoolers, families, community leaders and mentors read Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar simultaneously to celebrate the joy of reading and to break a world record. This year, Jumpstart invites you to vote for the book to be read at next year’s event.
The choices are:
Vote early and often, as the Pearson Foundation, founding partner and sponsor of the event, will donate $1 to Jumpstart for every vote cast.
Looking for a fantastic picture book to read between now and next “Read for the Record” event? Consider Raspberries by Jack O’Callahan and illustrated by Will Moses. Told in the traditional folklore style, young children will love this story about a man whose kindness is repaid magically.
Happy Reading!
