John Green’s Paper Towns has won Yalsa’s annual Teens Top Ten book contest, and earns the honor of being voted teens’ favorite book of the year. The novel about 17-year-old Quentin Jacobsen and his quest to find and help his childhood best friend Margo, beat out Stephanie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn and Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games to earn the top spot. 26 novels were nominated earlier this year, and teens voted for their favorites to make the top ten list.
The Teens Top Ten contest is part of Yalsa’s Teen Read Week which began yesterday. The week encourages teens to read for fun. Libraries and schools across the country will host fun events to promote literacy and library use.
Contact your local library to find events in your area, or go online for several virtual events including the Readergirlz author chats.
