Actress Cara Buono


-What is your favorite book?
This is a tough one…I think THIS SIDE OF PARADISE  by F. Scott Fitzgerald
It’s not his best but I love the youthful optimism. I adapted it into a screenplay.

-Who inspired you growing up?
Beverly Lechner-Klein, my high school math teacher

-What is the best advice you’ve been given?
To go to Peter in Seattle

-What is your favorite pastime?
Cooking and eating

-What is your favorite family memory?
Our Sunday dinners which were at 2 in the afternoon.

-What was your best middle school moment?
My school went from K thru 8th grade so I didn’t go to a different middle school. We had our own Olympics and in 6th grade I was the fastest short distance runner even beating the fastest boy. I won a gold medal which was a cardboard cutout painted gold and sprinkled with gold glitter.

-What authors inspire you?
F. Scott Fitzgerald, Graham Greene, Joan Didion among many

-What is the title of the last book read aloud to you?
The only book that was ever read to me was Snow White. My sister used to read it to me.

-What is your greatest accomplishment?
Staying true to myself and like Frank Sinatra, doing it my way.

-Who was your favorite teacher?
Mrs. Beverly Lechner-Klein. She was my high school math teacher who made me love math, pushed me to apply to Columbia. We were each searching for each other about six years ago when we reconnected and she has become one of my dearest friends.

-If you could be the best in the world at one thing, what would it be?
Partner and mother.

-If you could have a conversation with any character from any book ever written, who would you choose?
Jesus

-Who was your best friend as a child?
My brother, Joe.

 

Cara played Kelli Moltisanti, Christopher’s wife on the final two seasons of The Sopranos. She was a regular on Third Watch and The Dead Zone among her numerous television guest appearances. Her film credits include: Artie Lange’s Beer League, The Hulk directed by Ang Lee, Kicking & Screaming directed by Noah Baumbach, Next Stop Wonderland & Happy Accidents directed by Brad Anderson. She has appeared on Broadway opposite Mercedes Ruehl in The Rose Tattoo directed Robert Falls, Some Americans Abroad and The Tenth Man both at Lincoln Center. As a writer/director her two short films, Baggage starting Minnie Driver and Liev Schreiber and Another Complex starring Gil Bellows played at over a dozen film festivals. She graduated from Columbia University in three years with a double major in English and Political Science.
