Engaging Lesson Plans for Non-fiction Books

Fuse #8 alerted us to this great non-fiction educational database INKThinkTank.com. Based on the popular I.N.K. (Interesting Non-Fiction for Kids) blog, the INK Think Tank seeks to help teachers find creative standards-based lesson plans for non-fiction books.

The site suggests that “Recent studies have shown that many students, especially boys, prefer nonfiction to fiction.  If kids are exposed to creative, well-written nonfiction, they are significantly more likely to become lifelong readers.” The database attempts to fill that desire for engaging, quality non-fiction books by helping teachers find and integrate these types of books into their curriculum.

At the moment, the featured books are limited to INK blog contributing writers (an outstanding group listed below), but the site plans to expand to a broad range of fantastic non-fiction. Check out both the database and blog today.
