Bandslam stars Gaelan Connell, Aly Michalka and Vanessa Hudgens with singer-songwriter Lucy Walsh
On May 15th, we partnered with the Grammy Museum in LA Live to create the “Bandslam Reel Thinking Event.” Middle School students from all over Los Angeles came to the museum with their teachers to learn about the history of recorded music, music genres and the importance of music in schools. We were thrilled that Bandslam stars Vanessa Hudgens, Aly Michalka and Gaelan Connell along with Hollywood Records Producer Mitchell Lieb and singer-songwriter Lucy Walsh could participate in a Q&A session with the students.

Vanessa Hudgens and Aly Michalka answer questions about their experience in the music industry.
We thought the event was so great, we want to share it to you! We filmed the entire event so that we could make it available to our walden.com family. Beginning in mid-June, several educational video pods will be available for download. Focused on generes of music, song-writing as poetry and a literary outlet, and the history of recorded sound, these pods will make a great teaching tools in the classroom. Our film stars introduce each piece and offer a “challenge” research question for your students. We hope this event will give you and your class a glimpse into the Grammy museum and the exciting world of the music industry, and don’t forget to check out Bandslam when it hits theaters August 14th!
