This year, Earth Day is going viral. Al Gore’s Repower America has teamed up with YouTube’s Video Volunteer initiative to launch an Earth Day Video Contest.
The concept is simple – help spread the word about climate change by creating a short 3-minute YouTube video.
The best 3 videos will join Gore’s video on the YouTube homepage this Earth Day - an honor normally bestowed only to the most popular viral videos.
While the contest is only open to adults over the age of 18 or children over the age of 13 with written consent from a parent or guardian, the video project is a great idea for students. So much research, critical and creative thinking goes into making a video, students will have a blast while becoming experts on the green revolution. It’s a terrific project-based learning approach to climate change.
